Born
and raised in Victoria, BC, Ryan Robbins knew he wanted to
be an actor at a young age. He attended arts oriented
schools where he wrote, produced, directed and starred in
high-school productions; having his first taste of
Shakespeare at the age of twelve.
After high-school, Ryan
began his professional career as a circus performer;
traveling to Australia to perform. After coming back to
Canada, he went to Asia and in his early twenties, he was
producing and directing productions for a production company
in Malaysia. Longing for a new creative outlet, he helped
form an experimental band, Hellenkeller. During that time,
he was struggling artist, believing in his art and homeless;
living in a van during the winter months. But it all changed
for Ryan one night while on stage performing in his band; he
was discovered by a local filmmaker, thus launching his
career into the world of film and television.
A character actor, Ryan is
constantly reinventing himself; aspiring to keep each
character fresh and unique. Ryan, an avid comic book fan,
can be seen most recently guest starring in reoccurring
roles on Blade, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate: Atlantis,
Season 3 of The Collector andthe series lead in the
CTV series Alice I Think. Robbins can also be seen
in the independent films The Cabin Movie and When Jessie
was Born (a multiple award winner) as the lead.
His other credits include Supernatural, Smallville,
Catwoman, Walking Tall, The Days, Kingdom Hospital and
The Bug (winner of three Leo Awards). You can also
see Robbins in Steven Spielberg’s Taken and the
highly acclaimed Steven Spielberg mini-series Into the
West.
During his spare time, Ryan
likes to spend most of his day with his with two and a half
year old daughter and looking for projects; in particular
independent films, his passion. A passion that has paid off;
recently he won best actor at the Sacramento International
Film Festival against some incredibly well-known actors.
When not spending time with
his daughter or researching new projects, Ryan also loves a
“good fight.” A big fan of UFC, he enjoys watching boxing
and occasionally is a recreational participant.
