Actor and series regular Ryan Robbins stars in Global TV's 'The Guard' and feature film Passengers' to be released September 2008

Vancouver, British Columbia, February 2008 ---Canadian actor Ryan Robbins stars in Global TV's number one new series hit 'The Guard' and will be seen this September in the feature film 'Passengers'.

The Guard airs on Global TV Tuesdays, 10pm EST, and is a one-hour character-driven, original series that focuses on the lives of four imperfect, offbeat and sometimes difficult heroes. These coast guard rescue specialists continue to look for meaning in their own lives while enduring the daily dangers of life out on the Pacific Ocean.

Ryan plays Wendell, a recovering drug addict who has recently returned from serving in the military in Afghanistan. On a spiritual quest for enlightenment Wendell moves to Port Hallet for a clean start. As the series progresses, Wendell becomes involved with Carly, a coast guard, and helps her overcome her own demons while dealing with personal problems of his own.

Ryan's talent and success will also be seen in the feature film 'Passengers' to be released in September, directed by Rodrigo Garcia and starring Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson. Ryan plays Dean, one of five plane crash survivors who are counseled by Anne Hathaway's character, Clare. A major conspiracy unfolds when Dean and then the rest of the survivors start to go missing and Clare becomes determined to uncover the truth, no matter what the cost.

A character actor, Ryan, is constantly reinventing himself, aspiring to keep each role fresh and unique. Ryan won Best Actor at the Sacramento Film Festival for his lead role in the short film 'When Jesse Was Born' and has also won several Leo awards. He can be seen most recently guest starring in reoccurring roles on 'Blade,' 'Battlestar Galactica,' 'Stargate: Atlantis,' season 3 of 'The Collector' and a lead role in the CTV series 'Alice I Think.' Ryan also stars in the independent films 'Smile of April,' 'Sheltered Life,' 'The Cabin Movie' and 'When Jesse Was Born.' Other credits include 'Supernatural,' 'Smallville', 'Catwoman,' 'Walking Tall,' 'The Days,' 'Kingdom Hospital' and The Bug,' winner of three Leo awards. Ryan is also featured in Steven Spielberg's 'Taken' and his highly acclaimed mini series' Into The West.'

Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Ryan knew he wanted to be an actor from a young age. After high school Ryan began his professional career as a circus performer before producing and directing for a production company in Malaysia in his early twenties. It was while performing in his experimental band, Hellenkeller, that he was discovered by a local filmmaker, launching his career into the world of film and television.

Ryan has a passion for independent films and is always looking for new projects. He has won numerous awards for his performances and is often nominated opposite some very well known actors. When not spending time with his four-year-old daughter, writing songs or researching new projects, Ryan loves watching UFC and trains in mixed martial arts.

Canadian actor Ryan Robbins stars in the Movie Network and Movie Central's new original series 'Sanctuary'
Robbins stars with Anne Hathaway in the feature film thriller 'Passengers'

VANCOUVER, BC – SEPTEMBER 2008---Ryan Robbins is set to hit the small screen in the new original drama series Sanctuary. Sanctuary debuts with a two-hour premiere on Friday, October 3 at 9 p.m. ET on The Movie Network and 8 p.m. PT on Movie Central.

With some of the innovative talents behind Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis at the helm, Sanctuary follows the enigmatic Dr. Helen Magnus and her complex and intriguing crew, as they explore and ultimately protect the strange and mysterious creatures that secretly populate the world. The series explores the extraordinary world of Sanctuary with cutting-edge technology and top of the line visual effects.

Robbins plays Henry Foss, one of Dr. Magnus’ employees at Sanctuary. Henry is an uber-geek of the cool variety, a weapons designer and computer specialist. His technical expertise keeps the Sanctuary at maximum security…most of the time. Henry is outspoken, witty and undeniably brilliant. But like most residents of Sanctuary, there is more to Henry than meets the eye.

Ryan can be seen this fall in the feature film thriller Passengers opposite Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson. Robbins plays Dean, one of five plane crash survivors, who is counselled by Anne Hathaway’s character, Claire. One by one group members begin to vanish, prompting Claire to begin an investigation of her own to uncover the truth, no matter the cost. The Rodrigo Garcia directed suspense drama is slated for release in October.

Robbins also returns to the small screen in the upcoming season of the hit Global TV series The Guard.  The one-hour drama focuses on the lives of four coast guard rescue specialists who continue to look for the meaning in their own lives while enduring the daily dangers of life out on the Pacific Ocean.

The Carl Laudan directed drama revolves around a mother and daughter seeking refuge at a woman’s shelter, where they learn what it means to truly live with nothing. When the father tries to reconcile his family it leads to a shocking series of events.
